I
Learned How to Drive a Snowmobile
by Johannah
When I was 8 years old it was a sunny and cold
January day I was watching TV about animal cops trying to save a
horse from death. My dad called my name, “Johannah!”
“Coming.”
I said. I got out of my chair and saw my dad in my living room.
He said,
“Johannah, would you like to drive a snowmobile?”
I said
while I was yelling joyfully “ Yes I always wanted to drive a
snowmobile!”
“Alright
then we will start tomorrow at 1:00pm.”
Today was
January 18. It was sunny day and it had snowed the night before so
the snow was half way up to my knees. I put on my snow pants and
snow coat for keeping me warm from the cold, soft snowy ground, and
white winter. My dad and me went out side. He walked to the
backyard where the snowmobile was in the barn. He started the
snowmobile so he can warm it up because it will not move if it is not
warm. It took a minute till he drove it to the front yard. He drove
it a couple of times so he can make a trail. It took him five times
till he got off the machine. He helped me to get on the machine and
he told me how to use the snowmobile. He said “If you pull
this trigger you will be flying into a tree.” So I drove it
slowly around the yard near my house.
It was
January 29 and I had gotten the hang of it so my dad said, “Now
you can drive it on the water tower road. Up there is a water tower
that keeps the water clean and fresh.” So I drove the
snowmobile towards the water tower. I turned around so I can go back
to my house. I accidently made a wide turn and I hit a 3inch pine
tree. I tried to get it out, but it got worse by trying to get it
out. I got off the machine and I tried to pull it out but the thing
weights about 600lbs so I knew I could not get it out. I was sitting
on the snowmobile doing nothing for five minute to get it out but I
couldn't do it so I decided to wait for my dad.
My dad
finally came to help me. He said in a joke right in front of my
face, “Looks like you needs some help or you can get it out
your self?”
I said
breathlessly on the machine “No, I can't get it out dad can
you?”
“No,
I can't get it out.”
“ Yea
right.” I said with a funny look at him.
My dad got on the snowmobile and he was able to get it
out. Then I got on the snowmobile with my dad and he drove it
about 50mph. I really thought I was going to fall of the machine and
hit the ground. I hold him really tight. We put the snowmobile back
to the backyard and in the building. Dad and I walked to my house,
went into the house, and dad and I had some nice hot cocoa.
So now it is
2008 and I am 13-years-old and I'm really good at driving it and I
can't wait to be 14yrs old to drive it across the road and to not
hit a tree. Stay tune for a next learning to drive a machine.
